“WHAT WAS ANY ART BUT A MOULD IN WHICH TO IMPRISON FOR A MOMENT THE SHINING ELUSIVE ELEMENT WHICH IS LIFE ITSELF – LIFE HURRYING PAST US AND RUNNING AWAY, TOO STRONG TO STOP, TOO SWEET TO LOSE.” (WILLA CATHER)

For Joy Miller, life is a gift to be enjoyed, appreciated, and remembered.  Painting primarily en plein air, Joy uses heightened color and expressive brushwork to capture her impression of a place at a certain moment in time. Her paintings convey the intimacy and fragility of these special moments, moments of realization that can come to anyone who will take the time to slow down and notice the reflections on a pond, the blue shadows cast on fresh snow, or the gentle gradation of color in a sunset sky.
